Studies in the Languages of Island Melanesia

Studies in the Languages of Island Melanesia (SLIM) is an academic ebook series which I founded in 2012, with the publisher Pacific Linguistics based in Canberra, and recently renamed as Asia–Pacific Linguistics. This series is dedicated to peer-reviewed scholarly work on the languages of Island Melanesia. All volumes are Open access e-books, and can be downloaded freely by anyone.

I am acting as the Managing Editor of the SLIM series, with work ranging from editorial advice to the typesetting and formatting of final manuscripts.

The SLIM series Published volumes

The target domain encompasses the eastern islands of Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia.

In terms of contents, the SLIM series is open to various sorts of scholarly writings:

  • grammars and grammar sketches;
  • linguistic monographs;
  • multi-authored collections of papers;
  • dictionaries;
  • text collections

Background information on the series can be found on its official homepage. However, because I cannot edit that homepage myself, I will use the present page to upload the latest links and files relating to the SLIM series.

Authors are encouraged to download and use our SLIM stylesheet, in the form of Winword templates:

Authors wishing to use LaTeX will need to provide a camera-ready document that complies strictly with the SLIM stylesheet.
